Howang House was originally the ancestral residence of YFY Paper Manufacturing Company founder Ho Chuan. After his business took off, Ho decided to build a western-style house in the most bustling area of Anping - Yanping Street - to express his love for his hometown and show that he did not forget his roots. The old house had been converted in to the Anping Cultural Assets Museum under mutual agreement between Tainan City Cultural Asset Protection Association and the Ho family. In addition to offering a wealth of information on display and products for sale, the western-style building itself is also an intriguing space.
