Originally the ancestral house, the building was built during the last years when the Ch’ing Empire ruled Taiwan. In 1989, the family set up the Tainan City Ou’s Great Ancestral Hall Family Association and converted the ancestral house into an ancestral hall (to worship the ancestors). The ancestral hall is guarded by Anping Sword Lions and has the “wooden doors in the wall” structure, both unique characteristics of the old buildings of Anping. There is also a folk artifact display room and assembly hall in the building.
