Wang Ji-shi’s Western-style Building

During the Japanese Occupation Period, Wang Ji-shi made a fortune by taking on the logistic business with the Salt Union. This building was built in 1937 and was, at the time, the tallest and most luxurious building in Anping. During the Pacific War, in order to make the building less obvious and unlikely to become an airstrike target, Japanese authorities ordered the building to be painted pitch black. Currently the decedents of Wang still live there and have preserved the building very well.
