Guangji Temple

Guangji Temple, also known as Long Hu Temple (“Dragon and Tiger Temple”), is the main temple of Haitoushe area. This is one of the three major temples in Anping District that worships the Great Emperor Baosheng as the main deity.
In 1743, a group of local fishermen ran into trouble when they were at sea and lost their direction. Fortunately, someone saw the Great Emperor Baosheng’s guiding lights in the dark. The fishermen eventually made their way back to shore. To show appreciation to Great Emperor Baosheng, the fishermen decided to raise funds and built a temple to worship the deity.

Guangji Temple is located in the most densely populated old alley of Anping. However, thanks to efficient space allocation, the temple is still able to have an amazingly large square in front of it. Walls were built around the square as a buffer zone to separate the religious space from the neighboring residential area.
