Konga(Gunga) Temple

Founded in November 1992, this Vajrayana Buddhism temple is named after Vajra Master Konga Guru. This temple, which belong to the kagyu school of tibetan Buddhism, is rather rare and special in Anping as the majority of locals are Taoists.
Vajra Master Konga Guru came to preach in Taiwan in 1958, and was also invited by disciples to preach in Tainan. He later established the Tainan City Gemageiyu Falun Center (present Konga Temple), and actively planned to build a place for meditation and practicing tibetan Buddhism rites. In 1997 when His Holiness Dalai Lama came to Taiwan for the first time, he preached and conducted the Consecration of Buddha Statues in Konga Temple. That drew a lot of attention at that time. The event clearly shows the importance of Konga Temple in the world of Taiwan Tibetan Buddhism.
