The Fragrance of Sesame Drew Big Crowds to the 2017 Tainan Anding Sesame Industry Cultural Festival

The Fragrance of Sesame Drew Big Crowds to the 2017 Tainan Anding Sesame Industry Cultural Festival

Tainan City’s Anding District Office and Anding District's Farmers' Association co-hosted the 2017 Tainan Anding Sesame Industry Cultural Festival, a two-day event held at the parking lot on the district office’s west side. There was ready-to-eat sesame oil-flavored chicken congee that was accompanied by the sweet fragrance of sesame oil wafting around the lively event. Crowds of people were lured in by fresh food while a number of middle-aged women learned how to cook up sesame oil chicken congee so they could treat their families to the dish once they got home. The festival also featured a road race around sesame fields as well as a series of scintillating live performances, challenging games, DIY experiences, and interactive activities with the crowd, which helped bring excitement to the event.

Anding District has a moderate climate, fertile soil, and farmers who are honest and hard-working. This is why the sesame here looks like black pearls. As a result, Anding’s sesame oil smells great and has a rich taste, making it worthy of being labeled top quality. Those who want to try the highest quality Taiwanese-made sesame oil must come to Anding, as this is the best way to contribute financially to the industrious farmers here.

Anding District’s sesame oil is not just a celebrated nutritional good for recuperating postpartum mothers, because it also is perfect for everyday cuisine and supplements the body with nutrients, too. In addition to sesame oil, Anding District's Farmers' Association has developed sesame powder and sesame soap, which make souvenirs that are uniquely local. The district office hoped that by promoting this festival the general public would be able to see the hard work and diligence of farmers. Furthermore, by marketing Anding’s top-quality sesame to the entire country, the district office anticipates this will help increase production for the farming industry.
