Local Philanthropists Team Up to Send Warmth Around Anding Before Chinese New Year

Tainan City’s very own Anding Charity Organization made sure disadvantaged families were free from worry during the Lunar New Year. For the fourth year in a row, Chou Wen-san, who’s the chairperson of a car part manufacturer, donated money to Anding District’s low income households and disadvantaged people in Gangwei Village. Chou extended his generosity this year, as he also donated money to economically disadvantaged students from Nan-An Elementary School. 174 households in Anding District benefitted from his gracious act, which helped ensure disadvantaged families were able to welcome the Chinese New Year with joy in their hearts.

Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung expressed that Mr. Chou’s actions are the finest example of “local development and local charity”. His charitable deeds have been unceasing, as once again he took some of his own company’s profits and gave this money to Anding District’s low income households, Gangwei Village’s disadvantaged residents, and all of the economically disadvantaged students on record at Nan-An Elementary School. Chou has given back to his community by offering tangible happiness in addition to providing supplies to keep them warm while a cold snap fell over Tainan.

This charitable act was a joint effort this year, as Sun Yi Motor Company allocated NT$100,000 that was given to disadvantaged people in Gangwei Village along with NT$58,000 in donations from Anding Village philanthropists that went towards low income and low-middle income households in the villages of Anding, Anjia, and Baoxi. Also joining in was Mr. Lin Chien-I, of the charity organization Chen Tu Ciang Tender Love Care, who donated goods as well as white rice to low income families. Members of the district’s Anding Charity Organization along with village chiefs and officers helped out by personally delivering the money and white rice to the residents of the disadvantaged households, thereby ensuring that getting to the district office to pick up the donations wouldn’t be a struggle. This act, for this reason, represents the spirit of “service all the way to the home”.

District Chief Liu went on to say that Mr. Chou has been constant in his charitable efforts, a trait people truly admire. As for the financial gift to economically disadvantaged students from Nan-An Elementary School, Chou agreed to help right after hearing about it, which shows that his compassionate spirit drives him to never let people in need go empty-handed. As of 2018, Anding Charity Organization has been around for five years; the city’s Bureau of Social Affairs, charitable businesses willing to donate money, and the charity organization’s members and volunteers have invested their hearts in altruism, as they now have over NT$2 million in operating funds. This figure shows that they’re both going to be able to help even more disadvantaged households in the future while currently realizing the charity organization’s mission.
