Anding District Celebrates and Thanks Moms at Mother’s Day Event

On May 5, Anding District Office held a Mother’s Day event at 10am at Tainan City’s Xin Wan Xiang Restaurant. Hailing from different Anding District villages, 16 kind-hearted mothers were selected based on recommendations, and over 300 people were in attendance, helping make a lovely scene full of energy and excitement. This year, the district office prepared coffee mugs that had family photos printed on them, and the mothers’ children both served tea and expressed their love for their moms through kind words. Family members hugged their moms as they told them “I love you”, creating a spectacle that was warm, happy, and touching.

On behalf of the city’s mayor, Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung presented plaques and gifts to the award-winning mothers. Their children all came up on stage with flowers in their hands, which they gave to their mothers before taking a picture together. The district office arranged for a lunch feast as a means of expressing gratitude to these mothers for working so hard their entire lives. The atmosphere during the meal was warmhearted yet lively. Tainan City councilors Liang Shun-fa and Lin Chih-chan as well as people involved in Anding District Farmers’ Association were in attendance in order to congratulate the mothers by presenting them with plaques and gifts.

During his speech, District Chief Liu explained that a mother’s love always stays with her family members, and that she devotes herself to her family and keeps constantly busy looking after her loved ones. For her children she provides shelter from rainy days and windy storms and painstakingly cares for her little ones as she raises them until they grow up. Although they bear countless burdens while being physically and mentally exhausted, this load they bear is their sweetest one because they take it willingly. Liu told the mothers’ children to never forget how she cared for and nurtured them, and so they should be devoted children who regularly greet her with positive words and hug her with sincerity; doing this fills her heart with happiness and brings her comfort. Liu hopes that this event will spread the message of how mothers selflessly devote all of their heart’s maternal love without complaint or regret, and he wants people to realize the importance of being good children to their parents and understand healthy family ethics.
