On the morning of August 6, the celebratory event A Life Worthy of Crystal Diamonds and Absolute Bliss: The Loving Father and His 60-Year Marriage was held at Xinwanxiang, a restaurant in Tainan City’s Anding District. Brimming with passion, Zhongrong Community Mamma Folk Dance Group helped add an exciting atmosphere to this heartfelt event with its opening act performance. Following this was the main act—a celebration of the awardees. This year the district office gifted ceramic cups engraved with the father’s name and organized a tea ritual where children had an opportunity to verbally express their gratitude to their loving fathers. The office collected pictures from the fathers’ youth so that the children could see how handsome daddy looked during his younger years. The families also completed puzzles that had pieces with names. So, in addition to recording their dashing fathers when they were confident young men, this event also allowed the children to see how their fathers, without any regrets, sacrificed their youth in order to raise their families.
On behalf of the mayor, Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung gave plaques and gifts to the award-winning fathers and model husbands who’ve been married for 60 or more years. Their children then quickly came up on stage in order to give their fathers’ flowers and take part in group pictures. The district office prepared a large lunch banquet, which effused with a caring and bustling environment. Furthermore, Legislative Yuan members Yeh Yi-jin, Huang Wei-cher, and Chen Ting-fei; Tainan City Council councilors Liang Shun-fa and Lin Zhi-zhan; and Anding District Farmer’s Association Secretary-General Wang Bao-min were either present at the event or sent someone in their behalf to congratulate the awardees and give them plaques, scrolls, and gifts.
During his speech, Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung expressed that a father is an important pillar that provides strength for his family, as he takes on countless hardships and responsibilities. Like an enormous tree, he protects his family and cares for his children. Liu also explained the feelings of love we have towards our fathers are more reserved or less noticeable. So, with Father’s Day on the horizon, Liu hoped that children could express their love for their dads out loud, and he also conveyed his sincere gratitude to great fathers everywhere before wishing all the world’s fathers “Happy Father’s Day”.
The names and home villages of the model fathers who earned recommendations for this year are as follows: Sulin’s Zhan Wan-de, Sucuo’s Liang Cong-bao, Anding’s Cai Guo-tang, Anjia’s Wang Rui-ze, Baoxi’s Chen Shu-gen, Gangwei’s Zheng Rong-zong, Zhongrong’s Weng Fa-chang, Gangkou’s Lin Ci-nan, Gangnan’s Wang Rong-fa, Datong’s Lin Jin-an, Liujia’s Wang Shi-zhu, Zhongsha’s Zhuang Rong-zong, Xinji’s Wu Ming-yang, Hailiao’s Fang Qiu-teng, Guanliao’s Chen Wu-xiong, and Nanan’s Zheng Ping-xiang. Serving as Anding District’s representative, Baoxi Village’s Chen Shu-gen went on stage with other district representatives to receive certificates from the mayor.
