The Fragrance of Flowers is Everywhere after Local Community Plants Trees: Anding Begins Its Effort to Save the Planet in 2017 by Planting Trees

Taking action against global warming and climate change as well as having an environmentalist stance that promotes energy conservation and greening are shared responsibilities for the citizens of this earth. Recognizing this obligation, Anding District Office partnered up with Tainan City Government’s Water Resources Bureau to hold an Arbor Day event that took place on March 12 at 7am in the morning. The event was attended by 50+ Anding District Residents, who planted 200 osmanthus trees with their bare hands. Everyone involved hopes that these plants will grow up to be healthy trees that spread their fragrance far and wide.

Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung said that this event’s location was once a waterway embankment belonging to what is now known as Taiwan Chia-Nan Irrigation Society, but it is now vacant land that was overgrown with weeds. This tree planting event will, therefore, make the local community’s natural scenery prettier. Liu expressed a warm thank you to the public for their passionate participation in this tree-planting event, as environmental protection and sustainable management must be promoted by the entire population. Planting trees is just one of the things we can do for our planet, so Liu hopes that the district can be helped out by a committed community where individuals make small and big differences in the local area.

Anding District Office is located next to Taiwan Chia-Nan Irrigation Society’s Anding Branch Line. The osmanthus trees that were planted stretch on for about 200 meters, and in the future local residents will need to water them with love and well wishes in addition to watching over them as they grow to become strong trees. After the event came to a close, those in attendance were given pots with succulent plants and osmanthus saplings. The district office expects that this event will help make planting trees a popular activity as well as encourage the public to reduce their carbon footprint. By doing these things, we can love and protect the local environment.
