Anding District Office and the Anding Farmers’ Association held the “2015 Tainan Sesame Industry Culture Season” at Dadong Night Market (Holiday Farmers Market) On Linsen Rd., Tainan City on the fifth day of the month. “Tainan Sesame is pure and fragrant, 100 % locally produced.” The event provides free sesame dishes and sesame oil chicken porridge for the public to taste. The mothers from the domestic science group of the farmers’ association sauté the ginger in a large pan, add tender chicken and king trumpet mushrooms, and pour a whole bottle of sesame oil and rice wine onto it. The air is filled with a fragrance that makes mouthwatering participants line up for the delicious sesame oil chicken porridge. At the event venue, there are also other activities such as a windmill DIY, fun games, and exhibitions of all kinds of produce from Anding District and of new farmers. Legions of visitors are attracted to join in these activities, tour the market, and purchase local produce, which creates a lot of business opportunities and value.
This year Anding was stricken by typhoons, but the sesame farmers still insist on soil preparation and cultivation. Sesame stands for the farmers’ sweat, toil, and extreme confidence and faith in the quality of Anding sesame. The sesame oil produced is pure and strong, not only being a traditional, nutritious dietary supplement for women who are about to give birth, but also an ingredient used in daily dishes to enhance health.
The farmers’ association of Anding District continues to develop daily necessities such as sesame oil soap into souvenirs with local characteristics. It is hoped that through the promotion of this event, consumers in Taiwan will enjoy high-quality and safe Anding sesame and raise the farmers’ incomes at the same time to create a win-win situation.
