Once again the Anding Charity Group of Anding District, Tainan City, gathered the members' repair ability to fix the timeworn leaking roof of the Lins on October 16th at 9 AM.The Group also replaced the damaged bamboo beam with iron structure to restore the safety and shelter of the house so the Lins could finally stop worrying about these old problems. In response to its original intention, the Group keeps detecting for damaged houses that are in need.
After reporting to the Bureau of Social Affairs of Tainan City Government, the repair activity is fully paid by the Low-income Households and Medium-low Income Elders Housing Improvement Cash Subsidy.Again many volunteers led by seniors like Mr. Liang Jin-zhu and Ms. Wang Jin-zhu from Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, and substitute civilian servicemen from the District Office helped the cleaning. The successful task is one of the best examples how substitute civilian servicemen can be helpful for public service.
As a part of the Low-income Households, Mr. Lin in this case is an elder with Disability Identification, his parents and wife all died, no children and living along on subsidy.The disrepair of his roof and bamboo beam has caused leaking and safety problem for years, therefore after interview and assessment, the Group applied to the Bureau of Social Affairs for repair expenses and initiated the improvement process.
The Supervisor Zhu Dong of this district stated that the Group has helped 12 cases, including 8 house repairs (2 of them were repairs after reexamination) through their compassion and energy. Each action like house repair, cleaning and charity computer equipment represents the members' practice of compassion and real experience of the phrase "Pleasure from Helping Others."
