Local Philanthropists Team Up to Spread Warmth to Disadvantaged Families

Anding Charity Organization wanted to ensure that disadvantaged households were able to enjoy the Chinese New Year season free from worry. Charity member Chou Wen-san, who’s also the chairperson of the auto parts manufacturer Yijiu Industrial Corporation, has contributed donations for five straight years. This year’s act of goodwill helped 171 households, benefiting Anding District’s low income families and disadvantaged communities in Gangwei Village. This good deed made sure that local, economically disadvantaged families were able to welcome in the new year with a feeling of warmth in their hearts.

District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung explained that Mr. Chou is the perfect example of a compassionate entrepreneur, as he has unceasingly provided his hometown with acts of benevolence. This donation once again came before Chinese New Year; Chou donated money from his company’s profits to Anding District’s low income families and disadvantaged residents in Gangwei Village. At a time when the prices of goods continue to rise, being able to receive a red envelope like this surely lessened the burden of living expenses for these families.

The above act of charity was part of a combined effort of new year giving; kind-hearted Anding Village residents gave a total of NT$66,000 to low income and lower-middle income households in Anding Village and Anjia Village. Jiali District’s Ms. Wu-Huang and Weicheng Enterprise each gave white rice to low income households, thereby contributing compassion in a very tangible fashion. The charity group’s members as well as village chiefs and village officers displayed the spirit of bringing service to the home, as they worked together to make personal deliveries of monetary donations and rice to these households. Many disadvantaged residents have health problems or are quite old, so these deliveries ensured that the recipients wouldn’t be troubled with the task of coming to a certain location to pick up these gifts.

District Chief Liu expressed that Mr. Chou’s charitable deeds are endless and this is to be admired; not only does he strive to help people when they need it most during the Spring Festival, but he also inspires local people and businesses to emulate his benevolent behavior and invest in acts of altruism for disadvantaged people. Since it was founded in 2014, Anding Charity Organization has for six straight years fixed up homes for those in need through the help of funds from the city’s Bureau of Social Affairs and compassionate companies as well as caring charity members and other volunteers. Being able to see these families live in newly renovated homes is the best sense of fulfillment and affirmation that they’re doing important work.
