Kind-hearted Tainan Charity Comes to Anding to Drop Off Important Goods for Low Income Households

Caring for Anding District’s low income families is something in the hearts of Tainan City’s Hsin-hui Charity Organization. So, on July 22 from 10am-noon, the organization’s Director Lin Chuang-wei led a group of staff members and volunteers who tangibly helped homes in need by giving Anding District Office 128 different daily necessities to each low income household. These disadvantaged households later received items such as white rice, noodles, cooking oil, soy sauce, canned food, western-style baked goods, toilet paper, and laundry detergent.

On top of giving important goods, this charitable effort also focused on protecting the public’s health. Anding District’s Public Health Center helped out by doing chest X-rays in order to increase the detection rate of tuberculosis, which in effect lowers how much the disease will spread around the community.

The organizers took into consideration that many people in low income households are unemployed and their families need these people to find jobs in order to raise the combined family income. Seeking to improve the economic situation of these disadvantaged families, Yongkang Employment Services Center’s Anding Employment Services Station held an employment matchmaking event.

The attendees were actively taking part in the event, so Anding District Office took advantage of a good opportunity to share information with them about emergency food provisions. This food feeds those in need for three to five days and is stored in the district’s emergency shelter in case of a natural disaster or if an emergency suddenly occurs. People can apply for these emergency relief provisions when they’re trying to get through a crisis.

Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung expressed his sincere gratitude to Hsin-hui Charity Organization, which is not from Anding District, for coming to another community to give it supplies. The organization took the concept of compassionate charity and turned it into palpable action, and its work is the finest example of the public and private sectors working together. The great variety of daily goods given to these low income families significantly reduced their living expenses for the short term. Everyone involved hoped that people-helping-people would create a situation where those who were once in need go on to assist others who have fallen on hard times.
