Li Mu-tan Showcases Genuinely Touching Artwork at Stairwell Gallery

Anding District Office’s Stairwell Art Gallery invited Li Mu-tan, former director of Tainan City’s Shin Hua Artists Association, to showcase 31 of her own art pieces in the gallery’s second-to-last exhibition of 2018. Creating art that portrays animals and birds, her artwork expresses the sincerity of family love and friendships. The exhibit was open from November 9 until December 28.

Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung said that Li Mu-tan helped vitalize the stairwell art gallery, as her animals are incredibly vivid and there’s a great range of emotions present in her work. Since its inception, Anding District Office has invited many local Tainan artists to show their work at the gallery, and this time the invited artist was Sinhua District’s very own Li Mu-tan. As expected, her artwork brought in a host of art enthusiasts and those who came admired and praised her work. The district office expressed that it was its honor to serve as the host of Li’s artwork, and in the future, it’ll continue to be devoted to promoting the art and aesthetics of Tainan’s local artists.

Li explained that she reveres nature and simplicity and that she is particularly fond of animals, even more so than humans. She believes that their genuine nature and adorability are touching, and this is why every one of her paintings seems to be emotive. She only starts to make brush strokes once she’s moved though, and colors and shapes stimulate her emotions and imagination. Li hopes that her art will inspire people to think positively when it comes to love.

The exhibit’s opening day featured a host of Tainan-based art association VIPS: Tainan City Artists Association, Shin Hua Artists Association, You-Cheng Artists Association (lit. “Pomelo Town”), You-You Arts Association, Qingxi Modern Literature and Art Society, Red Roof House Arts Association, and Nanyang Fine Arts Association. Other guests included Nansi District Director Li Yao Chou and Anding Farmers’ Association Executive Secretary Wang Pao-min; both men attended the event in order to congratulate all involved in making this art gallery a success. The 31 oil paintings at the Li Mu-tan Exhibition were on display from November 9 until December 28. Art enthusiasts were welcomed to visit the gallery, which was open Monday through Friday from 8am-noon and then 1pm-5pm.
