Former Substitute Civilian Serviceman and Community Empowerment Worker Cheng Jiong-yi Comes Back to Anding for His Creative Imagery Exhibition

Chen Jiong-yi, a former substitute civilian serviceman at Anding District Office who was responsible for community empowerment, returned to the district for the first time since being discharged. While here, the range of his creative talents were on full display in his 30 imagery creations, including photography, digital design, and calligraphy in paintings. The Anding Exhibition: Chen Jiong-yi’s Imagery was held at Anding District Office’s Stairwell Art Gallery from September 8-October 30.

Anding District Chief Liu Shih-Hsiung said that he was very happy to be able to invite Chen Jiong-yi to return to Anding to put on his very own imagery exhibition. Liu explained that, during his service, Chen and other substitute civilian servicemen worked with Zhongsha Community in establishing Kué-á Park (lit. “Rice Noodles Park”), where they greened and spruced up the once vacant space. Chen’s impressive design talents were already quite evident back then, and currently he’s working on taking his creative arts skills to the next level, as he’s now studying at National Dong Hwa University’s Department of Art and Design. There are no limits on how far Chen can develop his talents. Liu said that he hopes the exhibition allowed people to experience Jiong-yi’s artistic genius and that he looks forward to seeing more brilliant works of art on display at the district office in the future.

Chen Jiong-yi excels at photography, digital design, and painting, and his work features close observation of the world and unique perspectives. The exhibition hopes that the 30 art pieces on display inspired visitors to appreciate art and aesthetics in fresh, new ways. Art enthusiasts were invited to attend the exhibition, which ran until October 30 (Tuesday) and was open Monday-Friday from 8am-noon and 1pm-5pm.
