On May 4, Anding District Office held A Celebration of Loving Mothers, an event that recognized 13 caring mothers who were nominated by their own Anding District village. Over 300 people attended this notably touching Mother’s Day event. Also present were Tainan City councilors Lin Chi-chan and Lee Wen-chun, Legislative Yuan member Kuo Kuo-wen, and the Anding Farmers’ Association; these politicians presented plaques, calligraphy scrolls, and gifts, respectively. In addition to Kuo and Wang Pao-min, Executive Secretary of Anding Farmers’ Association, Lin and Lee were joined by fellow city councilors Li Wei-chih and Lin Chih-tsung, who also attended this event to congratulate these mothers.
New District Chief Lee Chia-lung, on behalf of the mayor, handed the award-winning mothers plaques and gifts. The district arranged to have these mothers’ sons and daughters pour them tea into mugs that had family pictures printed onto them. These children, who had provided the pictures, were able to express their gratefulness for their mothers in the form of warm tea. The children also gave flowers to their moms and hugged them too, creating a touching moment where the crowd’s eyes teared up from the gratitude that could be sensed in the event’s environment. A large lunch banquet was also prepared in order to thank these mothers for all the hard work they’ve done over many long years. The crowd surely went home with moving memories of this heartfelt and exciting event.
During his speech, District Chief Lee expressed that mothers contribute to and sacrifice for their children and families, yet they never complain even though they willingly bear so many burdens. Mother’s Day is a holiday where moms receive thanks, so this event not only served as an opportunity for children to show how much they respect their mothers, as it also calls on sons and daughters to always love their moms and it reminds them to express their gratitude. Everyone in attendance wished that all the world’s mothers would enjoy good health and happiness for the rest of their lives.
The names and villages of the celebrated mothers are as follows: Sulin’s Wang-Yang Chin-chu, Sucuo’s Wang Hu-i, Anding’s Hsieh-Li Li-hsueh, Anjia’s Shih-Hung Yu-feng, Gangwei’s Shih-Liu Chin-feng, Zhongrong’s Cheng-Weng Hsiu-lan, Gangkou’s Wang-Lin Chu-yun, Gangnan’s Wang-Huang Wang-lu, Datong and Liujia’s Huang Chao, Zhongsa’s Wang Fang-zuo, Xinji’s Fang-Yu Hsiu-mi, Hailiao’s Fang-Yang Chin-hsia, and Guanliao and Nanan’s Chiang-Chen Hsiu-tao. Zhongsa Village’s Wang Fang-zuo accepted the mayor’s congratulations on behalf of Anding District.
