Jhainei Village was originally known as Jhaizainei or Jhaineijiao. The settlement originally occupied the area behind the Shangdi Temple towards the west. Two clans of Ceng and Shen worked this area during the reign of Emperor Kangsi, planting vegetables and growing fruit trees. The settlement grew to form hamlets which later gave rise to the name of Jhaizainei (Jhai being vegetable fields or orchards surrounded by fences). The hamlet includes a brick house belonging to the Ceng Clan that stood behind the Shangdi Temple. This house was known for its traditional architectural beauty. During the district reorganization that took place after World War II, the region was integrated as Jhainei Village following the name of the hamlet.
