Dabei Village

Features
Dabei Village is located on the southwestern side of Xiaying District town street, and includes the two hamlets of Dabeiliaozai and Sinjhuangzai.

  1. Dabeiliaozai: This used to be a pig farming hamlet, and was therefore originally called Jhuliaozai (Pig Hamlet). The spiritual bastion of this hamlet is designed around the pig. There was once a white egret placed next to the image of the pig, but this egret has by now disappeared. Also, given the poor sounding name of Jhuliaozai, a rhyming sound was used to replace the character of pig, giving rise to the modern name of Dabeiliaozai. Cinglonggong is the hamlet's temple and serves as the seats for the Princes Chen, Li, and Wu of a thousand years as well as the Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva. The temple was first built in 1985, with the Door Guardians created by Master Li Han-cing, "The Dweller in the Bamboo Thickets", of Syuejia District. The couplets on the shrine were composed by the poet Mr. Wu Cin-pan from Sidiliao of Beimen District, and goes: Cing you li shu sih shib shen guang kua yong yao, long sheng jia bang wan shih sing huo kan chang sin (Celebrate and pray that every household be basked in ever-shining divine blessings, prosperity for our kin and nation and to all our posterity).
